As a massive Motown fan it was fantastic to finally see the elusive if not reclusive Motown Records founder Berry Gordy interviewed on TV. My only criticism is that such a rare appearance by Berry Gordy warranted and deserved more than a cursory five minute interview on The Jonathan Ross talk show!!
Berry Gordy made this brief TV appearance in order to promote Motown the Musical, which tells the story of the legendary US record label. Motown the Musical has been written by Berry Gordy and has just moved to the West End of London after a very successful two-year run on Broadway, New York and a wider US tour.
Motown founder Berry Gordy, Supremes singer Mary Wilson and Motown legend Smokey Robinson all attended Tuesday’s opening night in London, which was hailed a great success by the critics with these rave reviews….. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35764779
However you don’t need to read the critics’ reviews to know that Motown the Musical will be a great show and wonderful entertainment. All you need to do is remind yourself of the brilliance of Motown Records by perusing this Top 20 Best Motown Records Songs –
