BBC Radio 4’s long-running Desert Island Discs will fittingly feature a World War Two veteran for its 3,000th edition in Remembrance Week 2014, in the centenary year of the start of the First World War.
Former Royal Navy test pilot Eric “Winkle” Brown will appear on Desert Island Discs on Friday 14th November. Eric is the Navy Fleet Air Arm’s most decorated pilot and holds the record for the most flight deck landings. Presenter Kirsty Young, who has presented
Desert Island Discs since 2006, describes Eric Brown as “the perfect castaway” to celebrate the 3,000th edition. The first edition of Desert Island Discs was broadcast on 29 January 1942.
To mark the 3000th edition of Desert Island Discs, MyFirstRecord.co.uk / Record Press are offering you the opportunity to win a framed vinyl single of your favourite song – the one that you would save if the waves crashed onto the beach of the desert island and threatened to wash your records away!!
