November 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of Queen’s epic prog-rock operatic song “Bohemian Rhapsody”, a six minute classic that topped the charts in the UK in late 1975 / early 1976 and then nearly repeated the feat in the USA in 1992 on the back of the iconic lip-sync to “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the film “Wayne’s World”.

The social and cultural influence of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen cannot be overstated, as group and song singlehandedly introduced the concept of the music video, seven years before MTV was launched, at which point the music video then becoming commonplace.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” is eerily idiosyncratic and to this day nothing sounds quite like it. The song has never been matched – put simply few musicians could possibly emulate the creativity, invention and imagination of Freddie Mercury. Queen are marking the 40th anniversary of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by releasing their much-bootlegged 1975 London Hammersmith BBC broadcast as Queen – A Night at the Odeon – Hammersmith this month to coincide with the holiday season.
