Sir Paul McCartney has been granted a lifetime dream, by appearing in final print edition of The Dandy, which goes on sale this week.

Apparently Sir Paul McCartney contacted The Dandy’s publishers DC Thomson after they announced the termination of the comic in August of this year. Paul McCartney had harboured an ambition to appear in The Dandy as early as 1963 when in an interview in NME he revealed his aspiration “to have my picture in The Dandy! I hope it’s not too late! The Dandy was a favourite comic of mine when growing up in Liverpool and each week I would look forward to the exploits of Desperate Dan and his other comic book colleagues”.

Sir Paul McCartney will be seen being greeted by Desperate Dan with a crushing handshake ( see above ), before leading 50 of the The Dandy’s most famous characters, including Bananaman, Korky the Cat and Beryl the Peril in a group rendition of The Beatles’  “Hey Jude”.
