So a World Cup from the Shrine of Football is nearly upon us!! Surely FIFA stands for Fun Intrigue Flamboyance & Anarchy?!! And what a fiesta and festival of colour, flamboyance and fun it promises to be!!

The Record Press author has waited 52 years for a Brazilian World Cup. England maybe football’s historical home, but surely Brazil is the spiritual home of football? Ever since I first saw footage of the Brazil versus England match from the Mexico 1970 World Cup, with its almost celestial incandescent light and out of this world save by Gordon Banks, I have waited patiently for the ultimate World Cup in Brazil. It promises so much, let’s hope it doesn’t under deliver. With a background Samba soundtrack, surely Brasil 2014 will be the Biggest and Best Celebration of the Beautiful Game as Pele once described it.
