Pink Floyd are to release an album of unreleased songs in October 2014.

The new Pink Floyd album entitled “The Endless River”, it will be based on sessions for the band’s last studio album, “The Division Bell”, which was released 20 years ago.The music will feature multi-instrumentalist Rick Wright, a founder member of Pink Floyd, who died in 2008. “The Endless River” will comprise of unreleased songs that had originally been planned for a side project called “The Big Spliff”.

The new Pink Floyd album will be released separately from a 20th anniversary, six-disc box set of The Division Bell, which was released last week.The Record Press author is somewhat sceptical about releases that merely dredge up old material that was the musical equivalent of edited rushes, left on the recording studio floor 20 years ago. As a big Pink Floyd fan I’m happy to be proved wrong, but my feeling is that if the material wasn’t good enough 20 years ago, there is an element of desperation releasing it now!!
