It wasn’t until January 1st 1974 that New Year’s Day became a Bank Holiday and to put it into a musical perspective, that was the

By New Year`s Eve everyone`s fed up with Christmas songs so I try to add in some tunes written specifically with New Year`s Eve in mind. Here`s a few-
`So Long Christmas` by Shakin` Stevens, `Sing Out The Old, Bring In The New` by Wizzard and `Here`s To The New Year` by Slade.
I`ve noticed in recent years that the BBC have been using Slade`s version of `Auld Lang Syne` just after midnight whilst the fireworks are lighting up the Thames. Great idea because it`s a belter! Incidentally, you can find both of the Slade songs on the `Slade`s Crazee Christmas` album.

Some wonderful suggestions there, none of which I’m familiar with. However anything that involves Slade and Wizzard is bound to make the party go with a swing!!
