Grunge band Nirvana are among 16 acts nominated for entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. It is the first time Nirvana, most famous for their seminal 1991 album “Nevermind”, have been eligible for admission, because nomination rules stipulate that Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees must have released their debut album or single at least 25 years before 2012.

More than 600 music industry personnel will vote to select the inductees which include Linda Ronstadt, Hall and Oates, Peter Gabriel and British prog-rock band Yes and rock bands Deep Purple and Kiss.

The Record Press author is particularly thrilled to see that Chic, Cat Stevens and 1960s psychedelic band The Zombies are also in the reckoning as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees for induction in 2014.
