After months of speculation the Beach Boys announced towards the end of 2011 the specific details of their 50th Anniversary Reunion Tour to take place in 2012.

The surviving Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks, who were the original quintessential, cleancut American boys next door, will reform with a round 50 gigs planned. The tour will get underway at New Orleans Jazz Fest in late April. Brian Wilson said at the announcement: “This anniversary is special to me because I miss the boys. It will be a thrill for me to make a new record and be on stage with them again.”

It is thought and hoped that he Beach Boys will appear at the Grammy Awards ( Grammys ) on 12th February. Al Jardine told Rolling Stone magazine at the time of the announcement of the Beach Boys 50th Anniversary tour: “There will be a surprise at the Grammys. We’ll do something really exciting. There’s a lot of interest in it, which is nice. It’s going to be a very big operation.”

Last year, the Beach Boys went into the studio to re-record their 1968 hit record “Do It Again” for a planned new album, to be recorded in 2012.
