Record Store Day 2013 will be the largest event so far, with over 450 limited edition vinyl releases available at independent record shops across the UK on Saturday 20th April.

The Comeback Kid David Bowie will play a pivotal part on Record Store Day for vinyl lovers, with three releases in 2013 – “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” / “Where Are We Now” collectable 7” vinyl, from David Bowie’s new album “The Next Day”. There will also be classic re-issues of “Drive-In Saturday” on a 7” picture disc and his 1965 EP.

Modfather Paul Weller will also be centerpiece in Record Store Day. Paul Weller has recorded two brand new tracks “Flame-Out!” and “The Olde Original”, which sounds like a real ale ( and probably is!! ) specially for Record Store Day 2013. Paul Weller announced: “It’s great to do a record that’s released specifically for Record Store Day. There’s so few record shops left that we should all treasure those remaining”.

Pulp are releasing “After You”, which has never been available on vinyl before and Nick Cave issues “Animal-X”. Meanwhile Brian May has teamed up with Kerry Ellis’ with “The Kissing Me Song” whilst Kate Bush has re-released “Running Up That Hill” on vinyl.

Garbage are also supporting Record Store Day 2013, by releasing new single “Because The Night”. Lead vocalist Shirley Manson explains: “In a world like ours, where we live increasingly isolated lives behind the lonely glow of our computer screens, Record Store Day reminds us all that an independent record store is worth protecting and fighting for. They are a haven and a harbour for all curious and wandering souls. We need them. Let’s love them. And keep them”.
