Lionel Richie, who is playing the Glastonbury Festival for the first time this year, has told the BBC that he cannot understand why the British stage outdoor festivals.

In a BBC interview, Lionel Richie commented: “Why would you have a festival when you’re not sure if it’s going to rain? Why don’t you just put a roof on everything? I don’t understand! But you all seem to like the mud and the rain and I’ve gotten used to it now.”

Lionel Richie will perform on Glastonbury’s main Pyramid stage on Sunday 27th June 2015, in the “legends” slot which has showcased Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton in recent years. After more than 40 years performing live, Lionel Richie has perfected his stage craft to the point where he knows exactly how to wow an audience: “It’s going to be nothing but the hits. When you’ve got that kind of stuff going, you just play the hits and kill ’em”.

The set will presumably include classics such as Dancing on the Ceiling, All Night Long (All Night) and Hello, as well as Commodores hits such as Three Times a Lady, Easy and Sail On.
