Shock!! Horror!! Liam and Noel Gallagher are to reunite after agreeing to appear in a film about Oasis.

The Gallagher brothers, who fronted Oasis, have agreed to contribute their memories and insight in interviews for Matt Whitecross’s documentary. Oasis’ record label, Big Brother Recordings, will permit the film-makers access to all archives.

The film, produced by director Asif Kapadia and James Gay-Rees who made “Amy”, the film about singer Amy Winehouse, will offer “a rare and candid insight” into the group and document Oasis’s early years.

The film documentary will chronicle the stratospheric ascent of Oasis after their first album, Definitely Maybe, became the fastest selling debut album in British music history when it was released in 1994. It was followed by eight UK No 1 singles and eight UK No 1 albums until the Gallagher brothers’ acrimonious split in 2009.

The film, which scheduled for release in 2016, will also feature Oasis’s two-night residency at Knebworth Park in 1996, when they played to 250,000 fans.

The Gallagher brothers have had a turbulent relationship since Oasis split up and have yet to resolve their differences despite constant rumours they plan to reunite.

So it strikes the Record Press author that this film collaboration is the best opportunity yet for Noel and Liam to heal the rift and kiss and make up.
