Fleetwood Mac, who didn’t take their name from a fishing trawlerman’s sowester, have revealed that they are hoping to release two new songs ahead of their comeback live shows in the US in April and May 2013.
The song titles for the new tracks are thought to be “Sad Angela” and “Miss Fantasy” and will be Fleetwood Mac’s first new releases for quite some considerable time. Throughout Fleetwood Mac’s history the band has always been at the cutting edge of music from the early blues sound, driven by Peter Green in the 1960s, through to their later incarnation spearheaded by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks that produced the sublime “Rumours” album.
The two distinct phases and different guises of Fleetwood Mac could not be more different and rarely has a group metamorphosised from one genre to another with such success. The only other band that the author can remember that evolved beyond recognition was The Beatles, but obviously that was without a major line up change. The addition of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham to founder members Mick Fleetwood and John McVie in 1976 made for a spectacular renaissance for Fleetwood Mac.
