It is the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s famous ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, delivered from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to a crowd of 200,000 civil rights protesters on the 28th August 1963.

In the address, Martin Luther King dreamed of a future where his children would “one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character”. It has become one of the most famous speeches of all time and is regarded as a milestone in the development of the civil rights movement. The speech was not only a defining moment of the American Civil Rights Movement but almost  certainly the greatest and most iconic speech of the 20th Century.
