It’s been confirmed that Sunday 12th August will witness a stellar line-up of live music in Hyde Park, along with an unparalleled view of the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony across giant video screens.

Blur will be headlining a ‘Best Of British’ Concert supported by the Specials and New Order. The Celebration Concert is part of BT London Live, where Hyde Park, Victoria Park and Trafalgar Square will be the capital’s venues for many hundreds of thousands of Londoners and visitors to the city to enjoy and participate in the traditional ritual of the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony.

Another BT London Live Celebration Concert in Hyde Park is set for Friday 27 July to coincide with the London 2012 Opening Ceremony. Headline acts for the BT London Live Opening Ceremony Celebration Concert will be announced shortly.

On the evidence of last night’s Brit Awards, I just hope Blur get their act together!! I was disappointed by a rambling acceptance speech by Damon Albarn and the subsequent performance by the band. Damon Albarn seemed very awkward and uncomfortable and his vocals appeared weak, drowned out by the music and crowd. This feeble performance was put into perspective by the power and energy of the superlative performances in particular by Adele and Florence and the Machine. I say this with a heavy heart, because I’m a big Blur fan……Hopefully they will reach the heights at what will be an even bigger event and spectacle at the BT London Live Closing Ceremony Celebration Concert in Hyde Park in August!!
