The Prince Charming and Darling of the 1980s New Romantic movement, Adam Ant will be bringing his brand of pantomime to the UK in the build up to the Panto Season, when he tours extensively in November 2012. This will follow on from a US tour.

Adam Ant’s long awaited album “Adam Ant Is the Blueblack Hussar in Marrying the Gunner’s Daughter” is due to be released in early 2013. In fact he announced at his concert in Chatham last month that the new album was scheduled for release on the 21st January 2013, by Adam Ant’s own record label Blueblack Hussar Records.

Adam Ant began working on the album in late 2009. Adam Ant has explained that the concept behind the album’s title is that the Blueblack Hussar hails the resurrection of his classic Kings of the Wild Frontier-era persona whilst the phrase ‘marrying the gunner’s daughter’ is an old naval term for a form of corporal punishment, in which sailors were tied to a ship’s cannon and flogged. Apparently the underlying message here according to Adam Ant, is to serve as a metaphor for how he believes artists are treated by the music industry.

Adam Ant has always come with a certain amount of baggage, literally and metaphorically – he has made a career out of the childhood pursuit of playing with Mum’s dressing up box and wardrobe!! In the 1980s, as slick, flamboyant and colourful as Adam Ant’s stage and video outfits were, they were ably supported by well crafted songs with equally colourful themes and lyrics. Adam Ant was, and presumably still is, the complete performer package.

As well qualified as he is for a part in “Puss’n’ Boots” or any other pantomime, there is little chance of Adam Ant appearing in panto or “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here” in the build up to Christmas!! Adam Ant stands for “A” Class Celebrity and unlike many of his 1980s music contemporaries, there is little chance of him slipping into the realms of a B Class Celebrity!!

Adam Ant is part of the “Pantheon of Pop” and as such will always have a place at the top table. The man and his stage alter ego and persona are sheer class………As somebody once said, “Form is temporary, class is permanent”……the longevity of Adam Ant’s career proves this!! Simply, you can’t keep a good man down, even when he’s masquerading as an evil highwayman!! And to prove it, here’s Adam Ant’s Top 5 Best Songs –
